DECLARATION OF CLIMATE EMERGENCY OF THE BARCELONA METROPOLITAN AREA

DESCRIPTION

The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB in Catalan acronym) will urgently implement climate change and anti-pollution policies in its influence field.

The declaration establishes nine principles that will guide the actions and underline the key role of the AMB Climate and Energy pannel and a reminder of the urgent implementation of the Climate and Energy Plan 2030. In this declaration, the AMB emphasize the key challenges that the zone is facing such as:

  • Energy transition and decarbonisation and renewable energies generated locally, fairly and efficiently.
  • Efficient use and management of water resources.
  • Electrified, efficient, inter-modal and flexible mobility.
  • Planning for more resilient and sustainable cities and urban environments.
  • Waste as a resource, circular economy and changes in production and consumption models.
