Participatory project led by the Environmental Services office and the city’s Most Sustainable Schools network that promotes the renaturalization of educational centers and their environments.

In addition to the objective of the City Council to improve and adapt the spaces around the schools, it is also an objective of the rest of the city. Sant Feliu has a network of climatic shelters so that the citizens in general, and the most vulnerable groups in particular, can protect themselves from the heat. These spaces guarantee facilities that provide both thermal comfort conditions and rest and safety in episodes of extreme temperatures, allowing citizens to recover from the thermal stress caused by high temperatures on the human body.

Sant Feliu has 10 climatic shelters, 4 of them outdoors and 5 indoors, in addition to the Escorxador swimming pool as a place to cool off during the summer.

– Torreblanca Park (shared with the municipalities of Sant Just Desvern and Sant Joan Despí)
– Escorxador Municipal Swimming Pool (service conditioned to public prices)

– Les Tovalloles Civic Center
– Municipal Center for the Elderly People

The group of teachers from the most sustainable schools coordinated by the City Council has designed teaching materials for all ages, from Preschool to secondary school.

We have made a diagnosis of the biodiversity that our playgrounds and play areas near the school have, and we have discovered that in the corners with the most vegetation, we find the most insects, birds, and small mammals.

We also find them more pleasant to play in and more comfortable in terms of temperature:

• We have designed new spaces in our playground
• Make them greener by proposing to plant new trees, shrubs, and herbs that help us to provide shade, protect us from the wind, and welcome insects, birds, and small animals
• Make them more pleasant by placing tables and benches so that we can have classes outdoors, or to play and chat.
