Project description

SBR+V consists of the planning, expansion and improvement of the green and blue infrastructure of the municipality, with the aim of converting Sant Boi into a reference for a biodiverse, sustainable, resilient and healthy city; which understands green as an educational, creative and constructive element of a collective identity, uniting the different urban spaces and connecting them with the natural environment.
The green infrastructure of the city corresponds to the sum of the different garden spaces, tree-lined avenues, and green areas of the municipality. It provides citizens with a series of basic services: spaces for leisure and physical activity, shaded and well-being areas with lower temperatures, improved air quality, etc. At the same time, it also serves as a refuge and source of food for fauna.

Citizens involvement

The active involvement of citizens is essential for the success of this project. During the months of June and July, participatory sessions were held in schools and workshops and walks open to citizens to collect ‘in situ’ proposals on some of the planned actions. Sessions have also been held at the Sant Boi Children’s Council. The participation process will continue over the coming months.

Impact and results

An initiative deserving of a subsidy of 3,743,010.99 euros that will allow the creation or renovation of 65,000 m² of green spaces, as well as defining the future renaturalization strategy of the city.

It includes actions such as the creation of new parks, the improvement of existing ones, the reinforcement of tree planting in the streets or the renaturalization of school playgrounds. Between 2024 and 2025, action will be taken on a total of more than 65,000 m2 of green spaces.
