This project carried out an energy audit of the vehicle fleet of the municipality of Nabeul. The auditors provided an analysis of the existing fleet, consisting of vehicles intended for the collection of household waste, rubble, bulky and green waste, interventions on the public lighting network, road cleaning and levelling work, and the charges relating to their operation.
This analysis covered 5 areas:
-The structure of the activity
-An analysis of the physical situation of the fleet
-An analysis of operations
-An analysis of maintenance
-Energy management
Following the analysis, the implementation of an energy monitoring and control system and the improvement of vehicle maintenance and use were identified as the main ways to reduce the operating costs of the mobile fleet. In addition, driver training has been carried out to raise awareness of rational driving from an environmental and financial point of view. Project sheets were also produced by the expert auditor to present the savings achieved and the investments needed to demonstrate the feasibility of each proposed action. Similarly, the expert auditor has set up a monitoring and evaluation system to measure changes in energy and economic balances.
