Project description

Citilab is a citizen laboratory for social and digital innovation, where people explore and spread the digital impact on the creative thinking, and the design and innovation that emerge from the digital culture. It is a mixture between a training and researching centre and an incubator for social and business initiatives.

Citilab was originally founded in 1997, and its current building was opened in 2007. It is inspired by the Living Lab model, a public/private entity where citizens, companies, public bodies and research centres are involved in the process of innovation. Citilab has focused its activity as a citizen innovation digital centre for spreading and promoting open knowledge. Its working models are the ones of the living labs: design thinking, computational thinking and user-centric co-creation.

The lab organises and promotes projects regarding innovation, participatory design, training and education, new social media and audio-visual production, innovation in terms of economy, business and society, and new R+D+I systems based on users. The projects promote participation and collaboration between people of all ages, the main aim is to spread and share knowledge.
