The Metropolitan Area of ​​Barcelona (AMB) signed, on August 30, 2017, a collaboration agreement with the Generalitat de Catalunya for the development of actions within priority axes 2, 4 and 6 of the Operational Program of investment in growth and employment FEDER/ERDF Catalonia 2014-2020.

The Metropolitan Heritage Network is part of this agreement with two different projects and within thematic objective 6, which consists of contributing to the conservation of the environment and cultural heritage.

  • The metropolitan heritage network was born with the aim of giving value to the metropolitan cultural heritage and its historical legacy. Parks and buildings have been rehabilitated to adapt them to 21st century society and at the same time promote their revitalization as an asset within the metropolitan tourist offer.

Project description

The Metropolitan Area of ​​Barcelona (AMB) signed, on August 30, 2017, a collaboration agreement with the Generalitat de Catalunya for the development of actions within priority axes 2, 4 and 6 of the Operational Program of investment in growth and employment FEDER Catalonia 2014-2020.

 

Thus, the projects executed by the AMB within the framework of this agreement have been 10 and have been framed in the following three areas:

  • Axis 2 Improving the use and quality of ICT: where the Smart City Platform has been implemented and new shared services of Smart Technologies have been integrated for their application in the metropolitan area.
  • Axis 4 Facilitate the transition towards a low-carbon economy: with the increase in energy efficiency of buildings and public infrastructures such as the change of light fixtures to LEDS in the Rondes tunnels or that of new photovoltaic installations and electric charging points in the metropolitan area, as well as the deployment of the low-emission zone in the metropolitan area of ​​Barcelona or the expansion of the Bicivia metropolitan cycleable network.
  • Axis 6 Conserve and protect the environment and promote resource efficiency: where different socio-environmental recovery actions have been financed in the Besòs and Llobregat rivers and restoration and improvement of six metropolitan parks with heritage value and heritage recovery cultural and industrial of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Barcelona.

 

The total investment of the 10 projects approved within the framework of this agreement reaches 64 million euros with an eligible expenditure of 49.6 million euros, half financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF/FEDER) of the European Union.

Impact and results

Within these projects, there are the 11 actions of the so-called Metropolitan Heritage Network, which have been co-financed by the FEDER and the different municipalities:

 

  • Restoration of Can Bagaria as a music school (Cornellà de Llobregat). (Finished)
  • Rehabilitation of the Union of Cooperators building (Gavà). (Finished)
  • Project of module C of the El Molí building (Molins de Rei). (Finished)
  • Interior renovation of Casa Larratea (Montcada and Reixac).( Finished)
  • Restoration of the west and east facades and rehabilitation of the east roofs of the church of the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallès (Sant Cugat del Vallès). (Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of Torreblanca park (Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí and Sant Just Desvern). (Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of the Can Vidalet park (Esplugues de Llobregat).( Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of the Can Mercader park (Cornellà de Llobregat).(Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of the Can Solei and Ca l’Arnús parks (Badalona). (Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of the Can Buxeres park (l’Hospitalet de Llobregat). (Finished)
  • Restoration and improvement of the Aigües park (Montcada and Reixac).(Finished)
