The Union of Jezzine Municipalities was established in 2005 to work on the development of the different sectors in Jezzine Region. The main aim is preserving the natural and cultural heritage by applying high quality environmental norms, in order to attract visitors and investors to support economic growth and local job opportunities.

In 2005, the Union of Jezzine Municipalities was established, including 28 municipalities, and which counts with the support and funding of the European Union, the UN-HABITAT program and other partner cities.
The main objective of the Union is to develop various strategies and projects that are to be implemented applying high environmental standards in order to preserve the natural and cultural heritage, while attracting visitors and investors to enhance the economic growth and create new job opportunities for locals.
A strategy plan was designed with specific objectives for each of the 9 sectors, in order to identify and implement strategic interventions. The main sector is sustainable tourism, as it is a great source of investment and by attracting more visitors and investors, other urban development projects can be carried out.
As part of the objectives, it is very important for the Jezzine Region to organize properly its urban expansion and protect the existing green spaces, and create new ones, protect the environment by designing water and waste management systems and enhance the economic growth.
